My girlfriend wants "space"?

a few weeks ago my gf was saying how she just wants to be friends for a minute. When I asked why she said dat she needs time to miss me, that she needs time to gather herself, and that she just wants to be alone right now. Ever since then I haven't seen her and we barely talk. She said she not seeing other people. I jus miss her so dang much n I feel like bn upset wit her buh am I just supposed to wait it out?
