What does this mean?

This guy I have been hanging out with a lot lately likes to invite our friends along when we make plans to do something. We've hung out before alone but usually he will try to invite one or more of our friends to come along. I haven't made it completely clear that I like him because I don't want to jeopardize our friendship or our mutual friends so is it possible that he's just oblivious or doesn't want to be alone with me? He initiates texts/IMs/messages with me and when I drop him off, he'll sit in the car and talk with me for a while so that makes me think he's into me but then when he invites other people to hang out with us, I'm not so sure. What do you guys think?
