What's your definition of family?

I, personally, feel that "family" is much more than blood - I don't need to be genetically related to a person to consider them family. Likewise, just because I AM genetically related to somebody doesn't mean I feel like they are family. What's your definition of family and what right does that give a person? Should they get to dictate your actions, "punish" you if they don't agree with you, manipulate you? One of my favorite sayings is "be yourself because those who matter don't mind, and those who mind, don't matter" - or something along those lines. What's your take? Does being genetically related to someone give them the right to tell you what to do with your life? (uming you're a self supporting adult, I think kids are a different story)
